Property owners rent their properties

Those property owners who rent out their property will be able to save up to 70% on their insurance covering damages and debts. This is an initiative being managed by the Sociedad Pública del Alquiler (SPA) that is intended to increase legal security in the rental market. The specific details of what the policy covers are to be released next week.

By means of this initiative, known as the “safe rental stamp” [“sello alquiler seguro”], a property owner who was previously paying 170 euros in insurance could see this amount reduced to as little as 55 euros. In principle, the bonuses will be applied to all kinds of property, without the need for them to be registered with the SPA.

This proposal forms part of the Rental Encouragement Plan [Plan de Impulso del Alquiler], presented in September by the Spanish Housing Ministry, which contains, among other solutions to strengthen this market, the provision of a 6,000 euro grant for empty properties that are rented out and aid to those developers that build subsidised housing.
